If you can’t find what you’re looking for, there are also ways to get an online truck parking licence.
Truck parking license requirements For truck parking licences, you’ll need to get a certificate from the Ministry of Transport, Transport and Main Roads.
To get your certificate, you need to be a registered truck parking permit holder.
To be a truck parking holder, you must be a driver of a vehicle transporting a person or goods.
For example, a driver may be a tow truck operator or a driver-based hire vehicle operator.
Drivers who are licensed under the Rural Transport Act, and who are travelling on a registered road are entitled to a truck rental.
They also need to have the vehicle registered as a hire vehicle.
Truck rental requirements The Transport Accident Compensation Scheme (TACS) covers the cost of repairs for all truck rental accidents.
You can apply to TACS if you’ve lost your vehicle, but you’ll also need a claim number for your vehicle and its trailer.
You must pay the costs of repairs on your rental vehicle, and must give the Minister of Transport your full name and address.
If your truck rental accident was caused by a careless or negligent driver, the vehicle must be registered as stolen.
If it was caused when your vehicle was stolen, the Ministry will pay the rental cost for the remainder of the term of your permit.
In the case of an accident caused by an operator of a hire hire vehicle, you can apply for compensation.
You’ll need proof that you have the required title and registration.
You also need proof you’re a registered driver of the hire hire vehicles, or a registered tow truck driver.
For a rental car, the Minister must approve the vehicle before it is rented.
You need to keep your rental car for 12 months.
For trailers, you may need to pay the cost, and you may also need the trailer’s registration.
For vehicles registered as hire hire hire, you cannot apply for a truck licence or trailer.
